Kindergarten Curriculum

Reading - Leap Frog Letter Factory (this explains the letters and sounds)
Happy Phonics (we matched the muffins)
Abeka Readers (I LOVE their early readers. They are so simple and teach the short vowels first so the child can read many words in a short amount of time.)
Explode the Code Workbook Primers ABC (These go very slowly and teach the letter sounds.)

One of my favorite things to do to keep interest is that he can read any book. I read, but when I see a word that has a short vowel sound I stop and he reads it. We have started the ABEKA book Owl readers and these have introduced some sight words so I let him read those too.

My future plan is to use the ABEKA reading workbook. I think it introduces long vowels in a good way and it will go along with our readers. I will also order more readers for him to read from ABEKA.

Math - Math U See (We watch the video with popcorn and then we do the worksheets and tests until I feel he has masterd the concept.)

Future plan - I will keep using this until the third grade. Then I might switch over to K12 math.

History and Science will be covered in the summer with fun activities.

He gets grammar and literature by listening to his brother's lessons.
