Two Meetings and No Car

This evening I went to a garden salad social. I left dh with the kids. He had a meeting he had to go to at two different churches. I took his car and left him with the minivan. I had to go to the church after the social. As I pulled into the church I saw that I had both sets of keys. I felt so bad that he missed his meeting. Turns out when I went into the church they said that he had already been there. I was surprised and figured he was determined and decided to walk. It is only a few blocks away and not a long walk. I rushed home so that he could have the keys and still make it to the second meeting at another church that is about a mile away. I got home to no one and both vehicles where unused. Did he walk to the other meeting? I drove to the other church and just as I pulled up I saw our little stroller outside. When I went in, there was dh in his church clothes with the kids. The kids were in the best of moods and thought they had gone on the most wonderful adventure. They had cut through fields and probably only walked 1 / 2 mile, but I was so surprised that dh went through all the effort. They weren’t important meetings and it wouldn’t have mattered if he had gone or not and he could have gone another time, but he pushed forward. It was cute. The boys have scratches and tales to tell about it all.

Isn't it ironic the things we think of as stressful can be the greatest adventures for our kids? It's all in the attitude we show them. Glad dh made the best of it...and I hope you got to relax a little too on your mama's night out!

It is so true that kids look through rose colored glasses if we will just let them.
