The Plan
I am waiting for the Beck Diet Solution book to come in the mail. It tells you that you can use any diet and it gives you tips on how to stay on that diet. I'm going to use what I call the Kelly Diet.
Here are the rules.
Eat three healthy meals a day.
The reason I'm not doing the snacks like so many diets say is because my problem is that once I start eating I have a hard time stopping.
*Breakfast – grain - protein – fruit
*Lunch – vegetable – fruit – protein
*Dinner – Main Dish (whatever my family is having) 2 vegetables
*Dessert – fruit (optional)
No second helpings.
I sit down and eat. This means that
*I don’t get up and down from the table.
*I don’t have any kids on my lap.
*I am not feeding any kids. (To do this I guess I will have to make sure all of my kids are fed before I get to eat. So be it.)
One gallon of water a day.
Multi-vitamin and B and C vitamins.
Major holidays and birthdays I’m welcome to any treat or goodie I want.
Regular days I’m welcome to any treat or goodie I want, but I have to compensate in my meal BEFORE I eat it. In other words, it must be planned out. I can’t just eat whatever and say, “Well, I’ll have a small dinner later.”
Exercise - This is the plan. I will exercise cardio 2 days a week for one hour on Monday (11AM), and Thursday (6:15PM) I will do a power pump class Tuesday and Thursday (6 AM) and Saturday (9:15AM). I’m trying to fit in an hour of yoga on Wednesday and Friday. I’m not sure when I can do that.

Some little things to work on
Today I plan on working at:
1. The way I look at my husband. When he looks into my eyes does he see the light of happiness? Does he see the light of Christ?
2. Inner happiness. Do I have a little smile on my lips the majority of the time?
3. Being a Domestic Goddess. This is not sacrilegious. I just heard a story of a couple who was in the temple and asked for a quiet place to pray together. The temple workers told them that that is what the home is for. Is our home a place where the spirit of God can dwell? It needs to clean for this to happen. Immaculate? No, but clean and tidy. Remember moderation in all things.

A little about my family
I’m not sure if I should start with the stitches or the bike crash or going to Tooele, but now that I think of it those things just happened yesterday and most of you haven’t been filled in on our lives for a couple of months. So here is a brief update.
I am no longer fearing that 1yo will have a tan line from his binkie in the summer. He has been binkie free for five days now. It is like any addiction, you count the number of days you have been clean and his total is five. We are really proud of him. He even stayed away from the temptation through a new tooth, a fever, a rash and stitches.
3 yo is bored to death in primary and puts his head on his ands and rolls it from side to side. If anyone can get so bored they stop existing I think I will find out soon, but he stayed in the entire time this week and that is a milestone. I think it helped that hubby told him they would make cookies if he would stay. He still mentions to anyone who will listen that I ran over his cat.
6 yo is nursing a wound from a bike crash and, when he remembers, he limps. He had his hair cut like AVATAR (a cartoon character that I didn’t know about either until a few weeks ago), collects the plastic bands they put around your wrist when we go to the community pool and has his second loose tooth.
Five years ago hubby and I packed our only child, up in the car and happened to pass a yard sale. We decided to stop and to our surprise we found a table with a leaf and four chairs for only $25 and that included delivery. That dear table has been with us in three different homes and through two moves and now it is time to say goodbye. It has served us well, but it is time to move on. We are thankful that IKEA is now just a hop, skip, and a jump away and they have saved us from our garage sale table and three chairs (One of them couldn’t quite keep it’s fourth leg intact and was replaced by a folding chair – now that is class!).
I will post a bit about our everyday lives when I think of it.

Swimming
We got a swimming pass this month. We have been going about three times a week. It has been fun. I have three little kids, but it is easy since there are hardly any other people there and it is not a deep pool. A lady I go to church with does water aerobics when I take my kids and after she comes over and helps them swim. It is great fun and then the kids play and practice. They are getting so much better in the water, especially 6yo. We will probably only go one to four times a month in the summer since it gets so busy. I think I will get a membership to the pool again in August or September when the older kids go back to school. I think playing in the water is some of the best lessons a kid can get for swimming.
The Plan
I've decided I have to hit the exercise trail. I need to step it up a notch. I exercise often, but I guess not enough. I'm not loosing. I will change my eating habits (the hard part for me) when I get my new book, the Beck Diet Solution.
Here is my eating plan for now
Breakfast - fruit/vegetable, grain, and protein
Lunch – Spinach Salad (from our garden!) my choice of cottage cheese, nuts, V8, apple and peanut butter
Dinner – whatever I fix for family with no seconds
I need to eat sitting down.
Tomorrow I will start the couch to 5K exercise plan and will exercise for 40 minutes doing that.
Breakfast – cheerios, 2% milk, one banana
Lunch – Spinach Salad, apple with PB, almonds and V8 juice
Dinner – Pasta with red sauce and cheese
Eat sitting down!!!
Right now I weigh 163. I want to lose 18 pounds and weigh 145.
I want to look good.
I want to be proud of myself.
I want to feel in control.
I want to be healthy.
I want to stop the trend of overweight women in my family.

The Influence of Mothers Will Bless Their Children
I just liked this. The things we say and pryaers we utter for our children will be for their good.
"The influence of your mother will bless you throughout life. . . .
Long years ago, Elder Frank Croft was serving in the state of Alabama.
While preaching to the people, he was forcefully abducted by a vicious
gang, to be whipped and lashed across his bare back. Elder Croft was
ordered to remove his coat and shirt before he was tied to a tree. As he
did so, a letter he had recently received from his mother fell to the
ground. The vile leader of the gang picked up the letter. Elder Croft
closed his eyes and uttered a silent prayer. The attacker read the letter
from Elder Croft's mother. From a copy of that letter, I
quote:
" 'My beloved son, . . . remember the words of the
Savior when He said, . . . "Blessed are ye when men shall revile you
and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my
name's sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for you will have your
reward in Heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before
you." Also remember the Savior upon the cross suffering from the sins
of the world when He had uttered these immortal words, "Father forgive
them, for they know not what they do." Surely, my boy, they who are
mistreating you . . . know not what they do or they would not do it.
Sometime, somewhere, they will understand and then they will regret their
action, and they will honor you for the glorious work you are doing. So be
patient, my son; love those who mistreat you and say all manner of evil
against you and the Lord will bless you and magnify you. . . . Remember
also, my son, that day and night, your mother is praying for
you.'
"Elder Croft watched the hateful man as he studied the
letter. He would read a line or two, then sit and ponder. He arose to
approach his aptive. The man said: 'Feller, you must have a wonderful
mother. You see, I once had one, too.' Then, addressing the mob, he
said: 'Men, after reading this Mormon's mother's letter, I just
can't go ahead with the job. Maybe we had better let him go.' Elder
Croft was released without harm (see Arthur M. Richardson, The Life and
Ministry of John Morgan [1968], 267-68)."

Hard Workout
I did power pump at Gold's Gym yesterday. Ouch! I'm so sore today. I'm going to try to do it on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 AM and then on Saturday mornings at 9AM. I like to be sore because I feel I really worked, but right now I feel like I can barely move.

Time 4 Learning
Has anyone tried Time 4 Learning. It is an internet learning site for homeschool and summer learning. I was thinking of using it for this summer for my 6 yo. I would love any input on summer learning.

Santa Claus
I just need some input.
My oldest is 6 (kindergarten) and very much believes in santa. Well at least he did until 3 hours ago. His older cousin told him that it was really his mom and dad who gave him that great jeep that he loves and that it wasn't Santa. She said he could ask her parents and they would tell him the truth about the entire thing. So he goes to my sis-in-law and says, "M..... says that Santa is not true. IS it?" Instead of playing it cool and just saying yes. She expclaims, "M......, I told you not to tell anyone. I'm so sorry!" "Is he real?" He pleads. "You'll have to ask your parents." He starts to get teary and I tell him it is real. He says, "But M..... says that it's not and you say it is real. I don't know who to believe. She said to ask her mom and she would tell me." I say, "Ask Aunt A...." She says, "You'll have to talk to your parents about it." She wouldn't just say anything to calm him even though it was her daughter that spoiled it. She then gets really mad at her daughter and sends her to a time-out. I'm thinking, "Way to play it cool. He is a smart kid and is going to wonder why she wouldn't confirm and why she go so upset and kept saying sorry to me and my hubby." I know some people choose not to have Santa as a part of Christmas, but we do and it has been so much fun. I was hoping that our oldest would believe for awhile since he didn't have older siblings. I'm really sad about it. He says he believes, but I know the seed of doubt is planted. What would you do?

8 Random Things About Me - From Candy's Blog
1. I had a scholarship to pharmacy school and turned it down because I decided that I would rather change the world by being a mother.
2. I love being a mother.
3. My boys are very active and talkative. Something we are working on, but I may just have to wait until they are teenagers and just want to sleep and won't tell me anything. :)
4. I have three older brothers and no sisters.
5. My mother was and is a very successful career woman.
6. My parents were not very active in church when I was younger. I decided for myself if I thought the LDS church was teaching correct principles or false through much prayer, fasting and study.
7. I love my life.
8. I have had to work incredibly hard to learn how to keep a home. I'm still working on it, but I'm much better today than I was six years ago. Just ask my husband!!! I pray I will be much better at the art of homemaking in another six years.

Comments on the Video From Last Post
That hit me right on. Sometimes I want my husband to know, really know, what it is like to be a mother. What it is like to try to figure out why a child has been acting strange when he comes home from school, or if he is sick enough to take to the Dr. or what to cook for dinner and if a popcycle can count for a fruit serving. The truth is that a husband will never completely understand. He can come close, but it is not possible to know. Just as we cannot completely understand what it is like to be a man. Mothers can understand mothers. You can know and can fully empathize with, not only the hard times, but the glorious times. You know the times when you walk in and see your children with their arms around each other and they are sharing and playing with one another - that is joy. It is joy when they accomplish something and they are proud of who they are. You all know what I mean. I don't need to explain it to you and you don't need to come to my house and try to be me for a day because we are all doing the same things no matter where we live. We are all loving our children. We are all sacrificing for our children and we are all hoping for a better world for our children. The truth is that because of our devotion, our children will make a better world and because of our children our sacrifices will, return as gifts to ourselves and our God.

Mother's Day
This is a three minute video that explains a mother's love. We all know what we feel for our children, but sometimes it's just nice to see it expressed. It has music so be ready.
